Melissa Rose O. Orteza Graduates Cum Laude from Cornell University

De La Salle Santiago Zobel (DLSZ) salutes Melissa Rose Olivarez Orteza (DLSZ 2007) for graduating cum laude with a degree in BS Biology and Society, minor in Global Health from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York last May 29, 2011.
Apart from her high distinction, her Honors Research/Thesis entitled Female Mating Behavior and Polyandry in the Dengue Vector Mosquito, Aedes aegypti was also given recognition.
According to her father, Dr. E. Neal C. Orteza, MD, Melissa will pursue Medicine after a gap year. In the meantime, she has accepted an offer to work as a Program Development Fellow with an NGO company based in New York.
Melissa was a member of the Varsity Women’s Tennis Team of Cornell in her freshmen year and an active officer of the Cornell Filipino Association.  Dating back to her high school years, DLSZ awarded her with Athlete-of-the-Year for Lawn Tennis.
